Accounting Clerk

Miles Hansford, LLC is a growing, full-service law firm in Forsyth and N. Fulton counties and is seeking a dynamic Accounting Clerk to join the main office in Cumming, Georgia. Miles Hansford offers benefits, and compensation is commensurate with experience.   This clerk position will evolve to encompass the following duties and has significant growth potential within 6-9 months.

Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor Accounts Receivable based on attorneys/clients/matters to ensure timely payment of client invoices.
  • Follow up on AR and reduced/rejected invoices.
  • Effectively utilize reports and inquiry tools in the firm billing systems, Microsoft Excel, and other various reporting and information tools to respond to information requests from clients, attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Coordinate financials and the day-to-day performance of job.
  • Ensure all financial operations are in compliance with governmental rules and regulations.
  • Process employee reimbursements.
  • Timely processing of payables and receivables
  • Manage credit card account statements.
  • Create journal entries and work in the General Ledger.
  • Ensure accurate payment of all Firm expenses.
  •  Initial review of monthly, quarterly and end of the year reporting 
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Process semi-monthly payroll through a payroll service and maintain PTO balances

 

  • Set up specialized client billing requirements, including LEDES and tax appeals.
  • Perform a wide variety of complex adjustments to client bills, interpret and respond to information requests from attorneys, legal assistants, clients and others.
  • Review pre-bills and work with attorneys and legal assistants on edits, ensuring final bills are accurate.
  • Handle requests for client invoices, write-offs, discounts, checks, billing rate information, reports, process credit cards, wire transfers and many other billing-related questions and requests.
  • Manage billing activities for partners and other complex clients or matters as they transpire. 
  • Must have a high level of customer service with the ability to build strong positive team relationships.
  • Thorough understanding of firm and finance department policies and procedures and ability to identify issues and enforce compliance with those policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Law firm Financial Background 
  • Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-7 years finance experience required
  • Must be willing to go onsite in Cumming, GA 
  • Proficient with billing, preferably TABS 
  • Understanding of LEDES Billing and Trust Accounting practices 
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

General Civil Litigation Associate 

Miles Hansford, LLC is a growing, full-service law firm with offices in Forsyth and North Fulton counties, that is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate to join the firm at its main office in Cumming.

We are looking to add an associate attorney to our talented litigation team who can work in a fast-paced environment, is organized, detail-oriented and able to think on their feet. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of litigation experience but the firm will consider recent graduates. The position will handle cases involving family law, commercial matters, and probate matters.  Substantive knowledge of these areas is not a pre-requisite for the position.  Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills, very strong legal research, writing and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook required. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a lawyer who wishes to establish themselves over the long term and grow as a professional.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on current caselaw
  • Draft pleadings, motions and briefs
  • Propound and respond to discovery requests
  • Courtroom appearances – local and appellate
  • Direct client contact with consultations, updates and strategy meetings

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate degree in law from accredited universities
  • Current admission to the State Bar of Georgia
  • 2-3 years’ experience in civil litigation is ideal but will consider recent graduates
  • Self-starter 
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and writing skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
