Aggravated Assault, Other Charges Stem From Machete Incident

It is impossible to know what is going on in another person’s mind he or she carries out any action. In some cases, someone may be doing something that seems dangerous or poses a threat to other people. Though such incidents can result in a person being arrested for assault or similar charges, the individual may need more help than others realize.

One young man in Georgia recently seemed to act in an irrational manner at a Walmart before being arrested. According to reports, the 19-year-old individual had taken a machete from the sporting goods section of the store and was wielding it in an irate manner throughout the store while claiming to be a warrior. He allegedly threatened other customers, and at least one individual was wounded by the machete. She was treated at an area hospital and released.

Three other customers in the store kept the suspect in the store until authorities arrived. He was taken into custody and is currently facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated battery and aggravated assault
  • Shoplifting
  • Terroristic threats
  • Criminal damage to government property
  • Other pending charges

It is unclear what may have caused this young man to act in this manner, but he will have the opportunity to present his case in defense of the assault charges and other allegations he faces. Creating and presenting a criminal defense is not easy, especially when facing serious charges. However, this individual has legal rights that could help him through the criminal justice process in Georgia, including the right to an attorney.
